Welcome to the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. (FBMS).
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences (Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences.) at the EU Our faculty, which is the foundation of all Medical- and Allied Health- Sciences currently houses five departments, viz; Human Anatomy, Physiology, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Sciences and Nursing Sciences. The programmes are designed to meet the need of modern day Basic Medical Scientists and Allied Health professionals. The faculty is blessed with competent and dedicated lecturers, administrative and technical staff who takes time to provide personal advice and mentoring, so that students can achieve their career goals. In addition, the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. has a community of academic leaders who believes that interdisciplinary, diverse, and inclusive teaching and research are critical to success in an ever changing society. Apart from the crop of experienced staff, the environment of Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences., EU is conducive for learning and equipment are available for cutting edge researches. The members of staff of Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences., EU inspire discovery and innovation with commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of local, national, and global communities.
In line with the EU vision of becoming a world-class institution for excellence in the production of graduates able to respond to the socio-economic needs of knowledge-driven economy, the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. is poised to:
- Train professionals in medical- and allied health- sciences emphasising a team approach to health care delivery that would enable graduates expand professional knowledge and skills for service to the community and humanity.
- Relate the training to national policies in order to provide comprehensive health care (curative and preventive) to rural or urban communities.
- Contribute to national development, self-reliance and unity through advancement and propagation of knowledge in the field of the Basic Medical- and Allied Health- Sciences.
Prepare students for leadership positions in governments, businesses, and the non-governmental spheres at national and international levels
