HISTORY
The historical fortune of Edexcel University started out as a nursery and primary school back then in Ibadan in 2002 with the name Solid Foundation Nursery and Primary School. It quickly branched out to Atan, Iware, Akoja, Agbeka all in the Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria. In 2004, the school was upgraded to a secondary school with the name; Emmanuel Model Academy. In 2007, it took the structure of a tertiary institution when it became known as Institute of Business Technology Management of Nigeria ( IBTM) with the aim of promoting skill acquisition, self employment and entrepreneurship education. In 2009, Edexcel University was officially founded in Nigeria as the Institute of Business Technology Management of Nigeria, later to be upgraded to a full blown university on 4th April, 2014 in Benin Republic. That same year, IBTM established the Association of Business Technologists. In 2010, it was the joint council of both IBTM and ATM that formed as one to establish what became known as Edexcel University with the aim of providing entrepreneurship, vocational and technical education, while its London counterparts, Edexcel London established by Pearson Plc also came into existence. In 2013, a wind of change soon blew the school when its governing and executive council recorded success in establishing the University of Business Technology in Benin Republic. By 2014, with this feat, it became a full fledged University structure known as Edexcel University Ifangni, Benin Republic. Since then, the school has secured approval to run the faculty of sciences, management, arts and humanities, and engineering with it’s authorized number 318/MESRS/CAB/DC/SGM/DPP/DGES/SA/2015. It also has acquired it’s registration under the Companies and Allied Matters Decree 1 of 1990(CAMP, the law guiding business business registration in Nigeria) Edexcel University as a licensed international university has it motto as “Education for innovation and self reliance”. Edexcel University prides itself and academic staff compressing highly qualified and dedicated lecturers with many years of experience. As a school affiliated to over 40 institutions worldwide to ensure quality assurance, Edexcel University provides its students with an interesting range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In Edexcel University, students speak English and French languages respectively. It has an electronic Library facility available for download and print through the internet accessibility. With this, its students best be regarded as one among equals. Some of the undergraduate programs include conversion and graduate programs awards of Bachelor’s , Master’s , and PhD degrees, with a strong affiliation to government universities, to mention a few; Ghana, UK, USA, Benin Republic, and Canada respectively. Edexcel University has also as part of its social science and management courses, business administration, accounting, marketing, banking and finance, public administration, economics and nursing. Its Engineering courses include Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Project Management, and Business Technology Management. Other curricula are Law, Criminology and Penology, Security Management, Community Health, Public Health, Environmental Health, Biomedical science, Pharmacy, and Computer Science. Its Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N Sc)has the recognition of the Nigerian Nursing and Midwifery Council.
